SENSITIVE DATA

47.0227 N 28.8353 E

SENSITIVE DATA explores the emotional connection between the city and its inhabitants through an artistic take on the available data about Chișinău. The new media and digital art installations are a bridge linking the info with the audience in an experience which stimulates all the major senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.

The exhibition can be visited until September 1, from Tuesday to Sunday, during the visiting hours of the National Art Museum of Moldova, 10:00-18:00.

Context

The inclusion of tech in most human activities, from governance to private life, led to the collection and storage of huge sets of data.  These data are used to provide an overview of our activity and its effects, at a macro level, but also to identify behavioral patterns of an individual. Yet, at the same time, working with data can be an opportunity for creative explorations that transcend the statistical implications. How does the individual relate to big data? Can an interpretation of public data change the perception of certain topics? Are there essential sides of a story that can’t be portrayed by statistics? Where does subjective perception fit in a field dominated by scientific methods? Can art mediate how we relate to statistics?

SENSITIVE DATA is

A New Media exhibition

This new media exhibition seeks to transform raw data into immersive experiences and interactive installations, fostering a deeper understanding of the city as a living collective entity.

A traveling event

As it moves from city to city, the exhibition evolves, cultivating a dynamic dialogue between the city’s inhabitants and their environment through the lens of new media art.

A Laboratory

In each city, the exhibition includes a collaborative laboratory where locals work together with the artists to collect and filter urban data, contributing to the foundation of the artworks. This partnership ensures the art reflects the unique dynamics of the city, shaped by the community itself.

Artists

Dorin Cucicov, cofounder of Ofnow, is an artist and coder with a keen interest in exploring the relationship between humans and technology. He has a MA in Interactive Technologies for Performing and Media Arts from CINETic, UNATC. His artistic practice is based on questioning the processes in which humans and technology influence each other – through research, interactive installations and performative art. The outcome of these explorations was translated to sculptures, digital projects and new media artworks, both in national and international exhibitions. He had works on display in  Ars Electronica (AT), Fête des Lumières Lyon (FR), Mirage Festival (FR),  Noaptea Albă a Galeriilor, Radar Festival, Amural Festival, Romanian Design Week, Timișoara Capitală Culturală Europeană.

Alina Rizescu is an architect, interaction designer and cofounder of both Ofnow and the cross-media design studio RIZI. She worked as an architect in Bilbao, Barcelona and Bucharest. In 2014 she founded her own studio dedicated to making projects at the intersection between architecture, visual communication and technology. Alina studied Interactive Technologies for Performing and Media Arts at the UNATC CINETic research center, and, starting 2019, she’s a curator for digital art exhibitions and festivals. Her projects create emotional and mental connections between people and their surrounding environment, with the help of design and technology. She had works exhibited in many events such as  Fête des Lumières Lyon (FR), Mirage Festival (FR), Bienala de Arhitectură de la Venezia (IT), Design Month Ljublijana (SI), Noaptea Albă a Galeriilor, Radar Festival, Amural Festival, Noaptea Albă a Galeriilor or Romanian Design Week.
